Delhi Public School Rohini hosted the much-anticipated Inter-DPS English Literary Festival (National Level) - ‘LIT SAGA 2024’ on Friday, 17 January 2025. The event celebrated the magic of literature, bringing together students, educators and literary enthusiasts from DPS schools across the country.
The literature festival showcased an exciting blend of onsite and offsite events. Offsite events, Ideathon: Craft a Surprise, Claim the Prize and Laugh Out Loud: Laughter between the Lines demonstrated the creativity and wit of participants. The best entries were carefully shortlisted, and selected schools were invited to participate in the grand event on 17th January. Onsite events such as Melody Masters, Page-to-Stage, Janus-faced: A Monologue and The Id, the Ego and the Superego allowed students to explore diverse facets of literature through music, drama and discourse. Non-competitive activities like Pen Wizards: Budding Authors’ Talk and A Canvas for the Literati provided platforms for self-expression and intellectual engagement.
The Valedictory Ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising light as the harbinger of knowledge and wisdom. Principal, Mrs. Kanika S. Govi, felicitated the esteemed dignitaries, setting the tone for the valedictory ceremony. The occasion was graced by eminent guests, such as the Chief Guest Shri V.K. Shunglu, the Vice Chairman of the DPS Society and Member of the Managing Committee, Delhi Public School Rohini, Guest of Honour, Mrs. Madhu Shunglu and the Special Guest, Shri Promod Rawal, Member of the Managing Committee, Delhi Public School Rohini.
Principal, Mrs. Kanika S. Govi in her welcome address, emphasised DPS Rohini’s 30-year legacy, the significance of revisiting literary classics and the importance of appreciating life’s blessings without taking them for granted. A video montage capturing the festival’s highlights that captured the vibrant spirit of the event. Special Guest, Shri Promod Rawal, Member, Managing Committee, Delhi Public School Rohini commended the school stating, "DPS Rohini has transformed so much, not just in infrastructure, but also in academics and cultural activities.”
A Theatrical Representation, The History of English Literature was the highlight of the day, taking the audience on a journey through the evolution of literary art. Iconic works, including Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, were brought to life on stage, showcasing themes of identity, class and transformation.
The festival culminated with an inspiring address by the Chief Guest, Shri V.K. Shunglu who praised the event, saying, "I congratulate all the actors and the staff for their efforts.” His inspiring address encouraged participants and organisers alike. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony that recognised participants for their creativity, talent and perseverance.
Vice Principal, Ms. Anshu Kumar, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to Ms. Namita Pradhan, Hony. Treasurer, DPS Society & Chairperson, Managing Committee, DPS Rohini; National Convenor, Ms. Dolly Chanana; and the DPS Society for enabling the school to host such a prestigious event. She also acknowledged the contributions of the judges, staff, student volunteers, and the enthusiastic participants from across the nation. DPS Rohini participated non-competitively as the host school.
With a footfall of more than 180 participants, the event was a roaring success. It left a lasting impression on everyone who attended, promising a brighter literary future.
The ceremony culminated with the National Anthem performed in sign language, showcasing unity in diversity and reflecting the school’s commitment to inclusivity and fostering a sense of belonging for all.
