With the objective of making Mathematics enjoyable and experiential, the Mathematics Department successfully conducted a range of innovative activities for students of Classes VI to XII.
1. Class VI: Crack the Code
Crack the Code activity was conducted for the students of Class VI with the objective of reinforcing their understanding of fractions through an engaging and interactive learning experience.
During the activity, students were presented with a series of mathematical problems based on fractions. After solving and simplifying each problem, they matched their answers with the corresponding code boxes, each representing a specific letter. By arranging the letters in the given sequence, the students successfully decoded a hidden message. The activity encouraged students to apply their conceptual knowledge of fractions while enhancing their logical reasoning, problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking. It also promoted accuracy, speed and healthy competition among the participants. The first student to successfully decode the hidden message was declared the winner, while the second student to complete the task was declared the runner-up.
2. Class VII: Date Decipher – Mathematical Calendar
Date Decipher – Mathematical Calendar activity was conducted for Class VII students. Students worked in pairs to create a colourful Mathematical Calendar on an A3-size sheet. Each month represented a different mathematical concept and its real-life application. They used numbers, symbols, equations, patterns, fractions, etc. to make their calendars attractive and informative.
The activity helped students improve their creativity, teamwork and presentation skills. It also strengthened their understanding of mathematical concepts and encouraged them to see the connection between mathematics and daily life.
3. Class VIII: Maths Spectrum
Students worked collaboratively in groups of five to create a mathematics magazine titled Maths Spectrum. Each group creatively showcased a variety of mathematical concepts through engaging sections such as Math Art, Crosswords, Games and Puzzles, Vedic Mathematics and Mathematics in Nature.
The activity encouraged creativity, teamwork and a deeper appreciation of mathematics in everyday life. Students participated with great enthusiasm and presented their ideas in an attractive and innovative manner.
4. Class IX: Maths on Cover – Where Logic Meets Art
Maths on Cover – Where Logic Meets Art activity was conducted for Class IX on 24 July 2026 to encourage students to explore mathematics through creativity and artistic expression. Working in pairs, students designed attractive and informative Mathematics Book Jackets/Book Covers on A3 sheets.
They incorporated various mathematical concepts such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Mathematical Patterns, Great Mathematicians and real-life applications of mathematics. The covers featured creative titles, catchy taglines, mathematical symbols, formulas, diagrams and illustrations, reflecting both conceptual understanding and artistic skills.
The activity provided students with an opportunity to connect mathematics with creativity while enhancing teamwork, communication, and presentation skills. It also helped reinforce mathematical concepts in an engaging and enjoyable manner. Overall, the students displayed enthusiasm, originality, and a good understanding of the subject, making the activity both meaningful and successful.
5. Class X: Mathematical Graffiti – Creativity Meets Mathematics
Mathematical Graffiti – Creativity Meets Mathematics was held for Class X on 22 July 2026. The aim was to enhance creativity and deepen students’ understanding of mathematics through art and collaboration. Students worked in groups of four to design graffiti/posters on A3 sheets.
Themes included Mathematics in Daily Life, Great Mathematicians, Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Patterns, Puzzles and Mathematics & Technology. The posters combined formulas, facts, illustrations and quotes, highlighting the relevance of mathematics in the real world.
The activity promoted critical thinking, creativity, teamwork and effective communication of mathematical ideas through visuals. Entries were assessed on creativity, accuracy, relevance, presentation, and teamwork. Students showed great enthusiasm and imagination. Overall, the activity made mathematics engaging and artistic, helping students appreciate its beauty and real-life applications.
6. Classes XI & XII: Logic Lines
Logic Lines was organized for the students of Classes XI and XII to promote logical thinking and reinforce mathematical concepts in an enjoyable way.
Students enthusiastically participated in solving two puzzles—a Word Search and a Crossword—based on important mathematical terms and concepts from their syllabus. The activity enhanced their subject vocabulary, analytical skills and problem-solving abilities while making learning interactive and enjoyable. It witnessed active participation and was well appreciated by both students and teachers.
