SENIOR SCHOOL INTRA ACTIVITIES

ORGANISED BY: DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL ROHINI

ABOUT THE EVENT: In a world filled with uncertainty, darkness, and chaos, self-protection has become not just a skill but a necessity. Every day, we witness alarming incidents—mugging, bullying, road rage, kidnapping, sexual harassment, and more—making headlines and circulating rapidly across social media platforms.

While no one can guarantee complete immunity from such crimes, Delhi Public School Rohini, in collaboration with the Kavach Self-Defense System, has taken a commendable initiative to empower students aged 10 to 17. This program aims to instil strength, confidence, and presence of mind, enabling them to stand up for themselves and safeguard those around them.

Program Details:
Total Participants: 37 students
Duration: 6 Days (2 hours every day)

A six-day Self-Defense Training Workshop was successfully conducted by expert trainers from Kavach Self-Defense System. Each session spanned 2 hours daily, focusing on situational awareness, reflex enhancement, and simple, effective self-defence techniques.

Skills Covered:
The workshop offered a comprehensive range of self-defence strategies to prepare students for various real-life situations:

• Single Hand Grab Defence: Techniques using wrist rotation and balance to break free
• Double Hand Grab Defence: Escape tactics from two-handed grabs, often seen in abduction attempts.
• Front Choke Defence: Body positioning, throat release and counter-striking to neutralize threats.
• Back Choke Defence: Rapid responses to rear choke holds using elbow strikes and footwork.
• Front Hair Pull Defence: Methods to disengage and protect from aggressive hair-pulling.
• Slap Defence: Reflex-based movements to deflect slaps or sudden strikes with control.

Additional Training Areas Included:
• Basic striking techniques (punches, elbows, knee strikes)
• Footwork and balance training
• Verbal assertiveness and setting personal boundaries
• Awareness-building to recognize and avoid risky situations

Student Experience:
All 37 participants described the workshop as a transformative and confidence-building experience. The hands-on training, reinforced through real-life scenarios and simulations, proved engaging and highly practical.

Students noted a significant improvement in their awareness, preparedness, and self-belief. The approachable demeanour and expertise of the Kavach trainers created an encouraging and respectful environment where every child felt safe and motivated to learn.

For many students, this wasn’t just a self-defence workshop—it was a journey of personal empowerment and resilience.

Parent Feedback:
The workshop also received overwhelming appreciation from parents, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude for this meaningful initiative.

They applauded the school’s commitment to student safety and holistic development, and many shared how positively the sessions impacted their children’s confidence and mindset. Parents extended special thanks to Principal Ma’am for her vision and leadership in organizing this valuable program, acknowledging her constant efforts in nurturing strong, capable, and self-assured individuals.

To mark the World Book and Copyright Day 2025, various language departments of our school — English, Hindi, French, Sanskrit, German, Japanese and Spanish — organized different competitions and activities like Character Dramatization, Tickles and Giggles, Proponent of Proposition, Blend Art, Turncoat, Language Crafts Corner, Culture Cooking Demo, Storytelling, Travel Brochure creation, Video Making, Patra Abhinay, Tatkal Prastuti, Hasya Kavita Vachan, Vaad-Vivaad, and Vigyapan Prastuti for classes VI–XII.

"The best drivers are aware that they must be beware".

Road safety refers to the measures which must be adopted by everyone while using roads. ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ is a concept inspired by Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision to create awareness among the general public to improve safety on roads and to give an opportunity to all stakeholders to contribute to Road Safety.

In this regard, to create awareness among our students, they were reminded to never use a mobile phone while driving, wear seatbelts and helmets, walk carefully on the sidewalks, only cross on the zebra crossing, follow speed limits, never drink and drive, follow traffic lights, avoid getting distracted, service their car regularly, be careful during bad weather, overtake from the right, and give way to emergency vehicles.

Our school organized Road Safety activities like: Poster Making, Slogan Writing, and Road Safety Comic Strips. In addition, there were Quizzes, Group Discussions, and PowerPoint Presentations prepared individually and as group activities for understanding the safety of self and others on the roads.

The Maths Week was held from 19 to 23 December 2022. The aim of the week was to motivate and inspire students to showcase their creativity, originality of ideas, and ingenuity in explaining mathematical concepts. A week-long series of competitions was organized, and students from Classes VI to XI participated very enthusiastically in these engaging, interactive, and fun activities.

“Manpower without unity is not a strength unless it is harmonized and united properly, then it becomes a spiritual power.”

Run for Unity has been a key pillar of Ekta Diwas for the past few years. This year, the program aimed to hold 75,000 runs across the country as a special tribute to India’s 75th anniversary of independence by conducting 100 runs per district, across 750 districts of India.

On the cold winter morning of 31 October 2022, the students of Classes IX–XII exhibited this spirit of unity. The cool wind greeted the young faces and laughter filled the air, as the students joined hands to commemorate the works of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in strengthening Indian unity.

The students contributed to this momentous achievement by running with their hearts and souls, unified by the love within.

An Intra School Science Competition titled 'Caricature- Fact or Myth?' was held on Friday, on the topic – Science in Everyday Life, for students of class VI. India has often been recognized as a country of unique and distinct culture. In India, we find unity in diversity, as there are diverse languages, religions, regions, and cultures. Indian festivals and food speak of India’s rich cultural and traditional background. Every region has a variety of food preparations depending on the locally grown and available food grains, fruits and vegetables.

To celebrate this diversity, students of Class VI organised ‘Aahaar-e-Hindustan’ — a display of various cuisines from different states of India on 10 August 2022, as part of the Social Science Week.

A variety of cuisines from five different states of India — Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh — was displayed in the respective classrooms. Students also shared information regarding the ingredients, recipe, and nutritional content of each dish.

A brief history as well as facts associated with most of the dishes was also shared through PowerPoint presentations and class softboards.

Students thoroughly enjoyed planning and executing this project.

The students of class VII, participated enthusiastically in the event- ' Working Parliament ' organized as a part of Aazadi ka Amrit Mahosav celebration, on the 75 th Independence Day. The session began with the speaker chairing the session followed by Question Hour. During question hour, many urgent issues of public importance were raised and discussed.
The purpose of conducting this session was to replicate the structure and working procedures adopted in the Indian Parliament. In addition to this, the session also strengthened and reinforced the roots of democracy and inculcated the value of discipline in students. The students’ Mock Parliament presented both ruling and opposition viewpoints. The session ended with students acquiring an extensive understanding of politics and the functioning of the parliamentary houses.

A Kite Making Workshop was organised by Mr. Sagar Prajapati for classes IX and XI. It was a wonderful and fruitful experience for children as they learnt to make kites with newspapers. Children participated enthusiastically and later enjoyed watching their kites soar in the sky.

A Panel discussion on the topic ‘Roadblocks To Peace & Justice In A Diverse Society’ was organized on Wednesday, 10 August 2022 for the Humanities sections of classes XI - XII. The panelists focussed on various social issues like gender inequalities, economic disparities, issues of minority and under privileged caste groups as roadblocks to a peaceful and safer society. The discussion highlighted the need for an inclusive and democratic society.
Following are the winners of the event::
