The day proceedings unfolded with the ceremonial 'Lamp Lighting,' a symbolic act that ignited not only the physical lamps but also the flames of unity, knowledge and hope. On the auspicious occasion of Independence Day, the School Principal reverently recited the timeless words by Rabindranath Tagore in his iconic prayer, “Where the Mind is Without Fear and the Head is Held High”, carrying the message of courage, self-belief, and the unyielding pursuit of freedom. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Dr. Narayan Dutt Mishra, Chief Editor of Vaartavali, DD News and Mr. A.K. Sharma, ADO, Delhi Fire Service. As the day progressed, the event was further honoured by the presence of Dr. Guriqbal Singh Sidhu, IPS, DCP of Rohini and Mr. Arun Kumar Chauhan – ACP.
The cultural mosaic unfolded with the melodious strains of & Vividh Taan: A Symphony of Patriotic Songs,' presented by the school choir. These melodies encapsulated the spirit of the nation, celebrating unity in diversity. Dance, as an expression of joy and identity, took centre stage with 'Vande Bharatam- Tribute to our Motherland: A Dance Presentation.' The fusion of Bharatnatyam and contemporary styles weaved a visual narrative of unity and reverence for the nation. Dr. Narayan Dutt Mishra, our esteemed special guest, eloquently discussed Independence Day's contemporary relevance, underscoring unity and progress. His insights extended to the significance of ‘Vatravali in Sanskrit’ and the celebration of ‘Vibhajan Diwas,’ deepening cultural understanding and heritage appreciation, enhancing our bond with India rich traditions. The impactful 'Street Play shed light on 'Social Media and Mental Health,' prompting introspection on responsible usage of digital platforms.
Ms. Kanika Sachdeva Govi, the School Principal, radiated wisdom and inspiration through her address, leaving a profound impact on the audience. Her focus on gratitude extended to acknowledging the efforts of the support staff and fostering a sense of environmental consciousness. The discourse highlighted reading transformative impact and unveiled DPSR's key themes for the 2023-24 session—reading, environment, inclusivity and gratitude. The launch of the ‘Library Corner’ on the school portal, guidance for responsible internet usage, and the announcement of the ‘Mobile Book Exhibition’ by NBT exemplified the seamless integration of education and technology within the school's ethos.
Aniket Aggarwal, an illustrious alumnus and representative of the Indian Contingent at the 22nd ITF Taekwondo World Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan, shared his journey of dedication and relentless effort. He acknowledged DPS Rohini's pivotal role in shaping his path to success. Principal, Ms. Kanika Sachdeva Govi, beamed with pride as she announced a monumental triumph – the DPS Rohini school flag will grace the 22nd ITF Taekwondo World Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan, fluttering alongside the Indian flag. He will also sport the school logo on his jersey. This remarkable achievement encapsulates a journey that originated within our esteemed institution and has now elevated to the global arena, epitomizing the pinnacle of excellence attainable by our students. Mukul Dahiya, an aspiring army officer and DPS Rohini alumnus, reaffirmed the significance of savouring the journey, expressing gratitude towards school, teachers and honouring parents. The poignant 'Sounds of Silence: National Anthem in Sign Language' brought the assembly to a close, symbolizing unity beyond words.
