Students with special needs from DPS Rohini participated in the Sports Day organized by Parivartan School (under PORDAC NGO) on 19 December at the GK-2 Skating Ground. The event aimed to promote sportsmanship, teamwork and inclusivity among students with special needs.
Four students from DPS Rohini took part in the event. All participants performed with enthusiasm, demonstrating determination and confidence, and won prizes, making the event a memorable and encouraging experience.
The Sports Day provided an excellent opportunity for our students to engage in physical activities, interact with peers and celebrate their abilities in an inclusive environment.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY ASSEMBLY
The students of Class IV-C conducted a vibrant assembly on the occasion of National Sports Day on Tuesday, 26 August 2025. National Sports Day is celebrated every year on 29 August to mark the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary hockey wizard of India. The programme began with a soulful prayer followed by informative talks highlighting the importance of sports and space achievements. A skit titled, “Meet Our Sporting Heroes” brought alive iconic players like P.V. Sindhu, Neeraj Chopra, Mary Kom, Virat Kohli and many more, showcasing their determination and achievements. A video on India’s golden sporting moments added pride and enthusiasm. A lively quiz segment, “Guess the Player,” engaged the audience and tested their knowledge. The assembly concluded with the news bulletin, an inspiring message by the Principal Ma’am and the school song. It was indeed a motivating celebration of discipline, dedication and the spirit of sports.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY CELEBRATION 2025-2026
The National Sports Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence in our school from 27 to 29 August 2025, as a tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, one of India's most significant sporting icons, under the theme - "Sport to promote peaceful and inclusive societies".
The celebration commenced with a series of awareness sessions during regular physical education periods, where students were educated on how sports can break down barriers, foster teamwork, and unite people across differences in religion, region, or background. Emphasis was laid on the inspiring life and achievements of Major Dhyan Chand, famously known as the "Hockey Wizard". Born on 29 August 1905 in Allahabad. Major Dhyan Chand played a crucial role in elevating Indian hockey to international acclaim. His exceptional skills earned India numerous victories, including an outstanding performance during the 1926 New Zealand tour as part of the Indian Hockey Team.
In honour of his legacy, students from Classes III to XII actively participated in a variety of sports and games organized over the three-day celebration. The school grounds buzzed with energy and enthusiasm as:
- Junior School students participated in fun and interactive games, including kho-kho, rope jumping and basketball, enjoying both competition and camaraderie.
- Senior School students participated in hockey, badminton, football and basketball, showcasing remarkable sportsmanship, discipline and team spirit.
The event served not only as a celebration of physical activity, but also as a platform to instil the values of teamwork, perseverance and fair play among students. The spirit of the occasion reverberated through the school's corridors and fields, reinforcing the belief that sports play a vital role in the holistic development of every child.
The National Sports Day celebration concluded on a high note, leaving behind memories of excitement, learning and inspiration drawn from the life of Major Dhyan Chand.
