HOPE – Department of Mental Health

The Department of Mental Health at Delhi Public School, Rohini empowers students by addressing their mental health concerns. The team of proactive and supportive professionals works in tandem with the school administration, parents, teachers, and other staff members.

The counselors aim to enhance academic, emotional, and psychosocial skills through sensitization sessions on internet deaddiction, cyber safety, stress management, gender sensitization, and behavioral management. The HOPE Department at DPS Rohini conducts one-on-one and group counseling sessions, adolescent education and peer education programs, life skills sessions, Conversation Café, and the annual mental health event – Kaleidoscope.

Being an inclusive school, the Special Education wing of the department provides a support system for children with special needs. Remediation is provided through specific and individualized instructional strategies, along with reading and writing support, guided by the inputs of the HOPE Department. A wide spectrum of differently-abled learners including those with Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Muscular Dystrophy, Hearing Impairment, and Intellectual Disabilities are supported through video discussions, mental health-related events and themes, and inter-school and intra-school activities and competitions to boost their confidence for an effective schooling experience.

“You are not alone. You are seen. I am with you. You are not alone.” – Shonda Rhimes

DPS Rohini also proactively conducts career sessions in coordination with career professionals to give students insight into various professions and the skills they require. Career Fairs are organized for both students and parents, allowing meaningful interaction with national and international universities on campus. Psychometric assessments (aptitude) are also conducted for Class X students to help guide them in selecting the right streams and subjects.
