School Rules
GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS
- Parents must log on to the school portal from time to time as all important information regarding the schedule of examination, Open House, workshops, change in syllabus and announcement of untimely holidays are always communicated through the Homepage of the school portal.
- Parents are advised to maintain close contact with the school for optimum benefit of their wards.
- Open House should be attended regularly in order to get apprised about the progress of one's child. In order to ensure a fruitful communication between the teachers and parents, it is imperative that the interaction is carried out in the absence of children. Therefore, parents are advised not to bring their ward/s to school on the day of the Open House.
- Any change in the phone nos./email id/postal address must be updated in the school records at the earliest.
- Parents are advised to pay attention to the neat turnout of their ward.
- School bags need to be checked regularly for any circular, worksheet, invitation or homework given in the almanac. Remarks put down in the almanac should be seen and countersigned regularly.
- The school uploads newsletters regularly for Classes Nursery to XII on the school portal. Parents are requested to keep a regular check on the school website and almanac for any important messages or circulars.
- 'The Buzz, the Beat, the Bulletin' is a bi-annual newsletter from the Principal to the parent that captures the stories of DPS Rohini and helps to connect, inform and involve the parents in the transformational journey of the School.
- Any written communication to the school should be addressed to the Principal on an A-4 sheet. The student's name, class, section, admission no., address and phone no. should be mentioned clearly on all applications. Mails to be sent at mail@dpsrohini.com.
- Please note that the processing of any request/enquiry requires at least two working days.
- As the medium of instruction in the school is English, students should be helped to follow their work easily and intelligently through regular conversation in English at home.
- All the school rules must be read carefully and explained to the children.
- Infosheet, health proforma etc. given at the beginning of the session must be filled by the parents in their own handwriting
- Parents must ensure that the special badges awarded to their wards are worn by him/her daily to school.
- Inappropriate conduct of students may lead to suspension from school.
- Only toffees (no chocolates) of well-known brands are to be distributed on the occasion of birthdays. Any other kind of celebration in the school premises is not allowed. Students are strictly prohibited from carrying birthday cakes to school. This will invite the issuance of Red Retribution Card.
- Reading the newspaper is an important habit which should be inculcated early in life. Hence, the child should be encouraged to devote regular time and effort in this area.
- Parents must ensure that their ward carries books/notebooks as per the timetable. No extra books or stationery should be brought to school.
- Kindly ensure that all the details in the almanac are duly filled.
- If a student has to leave the campus during school hours due to an exigency, the following rules must be followed-
- Only authorized persons mentioned in the parents' I-cards will be allowed to pick up the child.
- Parents' I-card should be produced at the gate at the time of pick up. A permission slip must be obtained from the school reception and the duly signed slip must be deposited at the school gate before leaving the school campus.
- Please download the online fee receipts, e-certificates and report cards periodically as they are unavailable after the completion of the academic year.
SHARING RESPONSIBILITY
- Responsibility to escort the students on trips, outings and also in school buses should be undertaken by the parents whenever required.
- Responsibility of the children should be shared proactively by the parents with the teachers during any school activity/function.
- Meetings arranged by the School Counsellor whenever required, should be attended and suggestions/advice provided should be taken seriously
BEING ROLE MODELS
- Parents are role models for their children
- Children should be encouraged to imbibe the right values and life skills at home.
- Parents must spend quality time with their ward on a regular basis.
- Children should be assisted in completing the assigned tasks.
- The selection of age appropriate TV programmes and their time limit should be strictly monitored.
- Surfing the internet by the children should be done under strict supervision and guidance of the parents.
- Children should refrain from being part of social networking websites.
ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY
- Regularity, punctuality and discipline in the students need to be constantly monitored by the parents.
- Students who come to school by private conveyance should arrive at school latest by 7:25 am i.e. 5 minutes before the bell rings. The school gates will close at 7:30 am sharp. If a student is a defaulter more than twice in a month, the parents will be called to take the child back home.
- Infant School children (Nur - I ) should reach school by 7:55 a.m. The school gates will close at 8:00 a.m. sharp.
- It is mandatory for students to have at least 80% attendance at the end of the session and no relaxation of any kind will be granted to a student who fails to fulfil this requirement. Eligibility for any academic prize in such cases will be considered null and void in case the attendance is less.
- It is compulsory for all the students to attend school on the first working day after every vacation and the last working day before a vacation.
- Parents should call up the school reception or send an email in case they are unable to send a written leave application on the first day after school re-opens.
- Record of absence of one/two days must be entered and communicated through the almanac only. No other application is required for the same.
- An application with a valid reason must be submitted if a student is absent on a Tuesday before the Unit Test (Wednesday). A medical certificate must be submitted in case of illness. All applications must be submitted at the school reception / as emails to the school email id.
- A medical certificate along with a written application on an A-4 sheet, addressed to the Principal should be submitted in case of illness lasting for three or more days.
- In case of an infectious disease, a fitness certificate by the doctor after the quarantine period, must be submitted when the child rejoins the School.
- An external memo will be issued in case of repeated absence without notice or unexplained absence for more than three consecutive days.
- Repeated absence without sanction or unexplained absence for six consecutive days renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls. Re-admission may be granted only on payment of fresh admission fee, provided the vacancy still exists.
- Absence from the school for attending social functions should be discouraged.
- Short/half day leaves are not sanctioned by the school. No request for the same will be entertained.
- Prior written permission must be sought for all outstation leaves.
- The School will not issue a 'No Objection Certificate' for any vacation planned during the regular working days.
RFID CARDS:
- If a child withdraws/completes the academic session (class XII) then she/he must deposit her/his RFID Card in School failing which a fine of RS 485/-will be charged.
- In case of lost/ damaged card, a duplicate card will be issued only after a payment of Rs. 485/- (via cheque) is made to the School.
ITEMS BANNED IN SCHOOL:
- CD players, i-pods and MP3 players.
- Mobile phones, smart watches or any other electronic gadgets.
- Cameras, VCDs, DVDs, USBs.
- Books (other than text books or library books), magazines, journals.
- Valuable articles such as expensive watches, jewellery, etc.
- Chemicals/ paints of any kind.
- Sharp objects.
- Crackers, match boxes/lighters and Colours.
- Deodorants.
- Make-up items like eyeliners etc.
- Fitness bands
NOTE:
- In case a student is found in possession of a banned item, the article will be confiscated and action will be taken as per the school rules.
- The school does not permit carrying of mobile phones even for competitions or school trips. If found with the student, the same will be confiscatedfor at least a year.
- No student should wear fancy/expensive jewellery, watches etc . Girls may wear simple small earrings, if they so desire.
ENSURING HEALTH AND SAFETY IN TIMES OF COVID:
GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS:
- Students should not attend school if they/any family member is (diagnosed positive for Covid infection).
- Arrive at school wearing a mask and continue wearing it all through the day.
- Cough and sneeze into a handkerchief or elbow and avoid touching face, eyes mouth or nose.
- Wash hands for a minimum of 20 seconds at regular intervals. Physical/social distancing norms must be followed .
- Sharing tiffin or stationery with one another is strictly prohibited.
- It is mandatory to carry additional masks to school.
GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS:
- If your ward or any immediate family member is diagnosed as Covid positive, disclose the same at the earliest to the School Authorities.
- Do not send your ward to school if he/she or any family member living in the same household is suffering from fever/cough/breathlessness etc or tests positive for Covid 19.
- Ensure that your ward comes to school wearing a mask and carries extra masks. The child must be sensitized not to exchange masks with others.
- In case your ward is diagnosed as Covid positive,kindly ensure that the Covid negative report and fitness certificate are submitted to School before resuming classes in offline mode.
GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS DURING ONLINE CLASSES:
The following guidelines are to be followed whenever classes are held in the online mode during the Academic Session.
The school expects students to display utmost regard for the rules and regulations of the institution and maintain a high standard of online academic discipline.The school expects the same standards of behaviour in the virtual classroom as are followed on campus. The students are expected to go through the guidelines and rules given below before attending online classes and keep them in mind at all times.
RULES FOR STRICT COMPLIANCE:
- Microsoft Teams is a platform to be used for hosting virtual classes only by the teachers of Delhi Public School-Rohini. Any activity other than attending of online classes by students using the Login Id provided to them by the school will be viewed seriously and will be subject to a serious disciplinary action.
- In case any unwarranted online activity of any student amounts to any offence or violation of any law, the liability for such violation will be of the individual only and Delhi Public SchoolRohini and/or administrators of Microsoft Teams will not be responsible in any manner.
- Disciplinary action will be taken against students misusing the Microsoft Teams platform for purpose other than attending a class scheduled by the teacher.
- No one is permitted to record (or take screenshots) any of the online classes for any purpose, through Audio or Video, in any eventuality whatsoever. Any violation shall be strictly construed as infringement and violation of privacy and shall invite all the legal consequences thereof.
- Students must not indulge in Cyber Bullying in any form. Cyber Bullying refers to “bullying or harassment of any kind inflicted through electronic or communication devices such as computers, mobile phones, laptops, and may involve text messages, phone calls, e-mails, instant messengers or social media platforms”.
- Students must join the classes using their login id only. They should be very careful and not share their id and password with anyone.
- Links to class must not be shared with anyone.
- Students must be regular and punctual for the online class. They must be attentive and maintain decorum at all times.
- The student must immediately switch on video and audio for interaction\attendance as and when instructed by the teacher.
- No student is allowed to unmute or share screen unless instructed by the teacher.
- The language used for communication with the teachers and students on the chat should be polite and courteous.
- Students must be dressed properly and choose a well-lit, noise-free area of the house for attending the class.
- Students must focus on the content being taught, take notes and refrain from opening other windows or surfing the internet.
- Students must maintain class notebooks and submit assignments\project work on time.
- Students must bear in mind that the teacher has the right to remove a student from the online class on account of any act of indiscipline or suspicion of any undesired action by the student.

School summer/winter tracksuit should be worn on P.T. days and excursions only.
DRESS CODE:
- Students should be habitually clean and always neatly and age appropriately dressed. Those regularly found untidily dressed or not in proper uniform will be sent back home.
- Students are required to carry their I-cards to school everyday.
- All boys (except Sikhs) must keep their hair short. Funky haircut is not allowed.
- Girls should refrain from nose piercing, applying henna on hands or hair colouring. They are allowed to wear only small ear tops or studs. No other jewellery is permitted. The school will not be responsible for loss of any jewellery.
- Girls should wear only bottle green stretchable bands and/or black hair clips. Long hair must be tied in neat plaits and not left loose.
- Students are strictly prohibited from keeping long nails/using nail art or nail polish. Stringent action will be taken against the defaulters.
- The name, class and section of the child should be clearly marked on all the belongings including shoes to avoid misplacement of the same.
- Students should wear proper footwear as specified by the school. No shoes of any other colour/kind/slippers or any other forms of high-heeled shoes are permissible. In winter, children who wear grey stockings should have them held up with elastic garters so that they do not sag around the ankles.
- The cut of the trousers should be straight. Fancy trousers like boot cut, narrow bottom or low waist are not permitted.
- Girls must wear the right length of the skirt. The skirt must fall on/till the knees.
- It is compulsory for all children to wear a white vest/under slip.
- As long as a student is on school rolls, he/she must be in school uniform whenever he/she comes to school.
- Students should wear their school tracksuits whenever they go out for picnics or excursions.
SCHOOL TRANSPORT:
- School transport facility can be availed by students, subject to the availability of seats.
- Bus facility is neither mandatory nor guaranteed.
- The bus facility is extended only as a privilege and cannot be claimed as a right.
- Bus routes and stops have been finalized after a careful study. Applications for creation of a new stop or change of stop/route will not be entertained.
- School buses will not stop at any other point except the stipulated bus stop in the morning and afternoon.
- Students will be held responsible for any damage caused by negligence or vandalism in the bus.
- Unruly behaviour like shrieking and shouting is strictly prohibited while using the school transport.
- The School shall not be held responsible for any item left by the student while deboarding the bus
- Any act of indiscipline/discarding of food or trash inside or outside the school bus will lead to suspension from the bus facility for a week/ a month/ permanently.
- Bus fee is payable for 11 months by those who avail the school transport.
- If a student intends to withdraw the school bus facility, parents are required to give one calendar month notice in writing, failing which, one month's bus fee will be charged in lieu thereof.
- No withdrawal from bus facility will be allowed after 31 July, 2022. However, if the withdrawal from bus facility is still requested, then fee for the entire session will be charged.
- If school transport is opted, then service should be availed for both trips.
- There is no system of one way charge for the school bus transport.
- Parents must reach the bus stop at least 5 minutes prior to the expected time of arrival. Under no circumstance will the bus keep waiting for anyone to drop or pick up the child.
- The time of arrival of the bus may vary in the afternoon due to traffic jams, roadblocks and unavoidable circumstances on the road. Parents must bear with the bus staff.
- Students travelling by taxi or on their own are also expected to strictly adhere to the timing.
- Students who are escorted to and from the bus stop in the care of domestic staff must be introduced to the bus in-charge. to avoid inconvenience, parents should also submit an application addressed to the Principal, along with the photograph (duly attested by the parent) of the nominated staff.
- Students up to Class VI have to be escorted to and from the bus stop by the parents or any authorised person.
- Use of two modes of transport i.e. combination of taxi/school bus /own arrangement, is strictly not allowed for safety reasons.
- Students must wear the RFID card at all times during school hours to ensure complete safety both while travelling and when in school.
PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES:
- School fees is payable monthly by 10th of every month. No separate bill or communication will be issues for this purpose. Parents are requested to visit school’s website for depositing fees online mode. No cash will be accepted for fees.
- Parents can deposit school fees monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly/half-yearly in advance.
- Parents of Class X & XII are required to pay fees for February & March 2026 latest by 15th January 2026 in view of the Board Exams So that the Admit Card can be issued on time.
- Parents should ensure that the school fees is paid on time to avoid being a fee defaulter.
NOTE:

WITHDRAWALS:
- If a child has to be withdrawn from school, parents are required to give one calendar month's notice in writing, failing which, one month's fee will be charged in lieu thereof.
- In case of withdrawal in May, fee for the month of June is required to be deposited.
- Transfer Certificate for a child whose name has been withdrawn will not be issued until all the dues are settled.
- Any student who fails twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue his/her studies in school.
- The name of a student can be struck off the school rolls on the following grounds:
- Acute Disciplinary issue
- Repeated detention in a class
- Long absence without information
- Non payment of fees

AREAS OF CONCERN
We need to nurture and guide our children to be disciplined in life. Kindly dissuade your ward from indulging in the following behaviour:
- Bullying/aggressive behaviour and use of abusive language
- Late arrival to School
- Irregularity in attendance
- Bunking classes/assemblies/activities
- Defaulter at work (missing formal assessments and exams, late submissions, not bringing the required material)
- Damage to school property
- Littering the classrooms/ the school premises/ the school bus
- Inappropriate uniform turnout
- Disorderly hair/untidy hairstyles/improper haircuts
- Bringing banned items to the school
- Use of unfair means during tests/ examination
- Bursting of crackers or playing with colours
- Lending or borrowing money in the school
- Self driving
- Throwing things at each other (bottels,pouches,notebooks,etc)
DISCIPLINARY ACTION
In order to maintain discipline in school, a system of issuance of retribution cards is followed for all students. However, before the issuance of the same, an 'Atonement Card' might be given to check and warn the student and give him/her a chance to amend undesirable behavior, wherein the child will carry out some service within the school during his/her Activity/P.T. period. However, depending on the seriousness of the misbehavior and the age of the student, he/she may directly be issued a ‘Yellow Retribution Card’. The card issued to a student must be countersigned by the parents and sent back for the purpose of record.
Please Note:
- Two ‘Yellow Retribution Cards’ will mean suspension from school for 5 working days
- Three ‘Yellow Retribution Cards’ will mean expulsion from the school.
SAFETY ADVISORY
- Parents must ensure that they do not use their mobile phones while on the school premises.
- On days of Open House /Meetings and School programmes, the punctuality of the parents will be appreciated. The School gates will open at the stipulated time as informed in advance.
- Bullying is one of the biggest concerns at educational institutions. It can be in the form of physical, verbal, emotional, exclusion or as cyber bullying. It is therefore advised that any incident of bullying should be brought to the notice of the school authorities at the earliest in order to achieve a safe and child-friendly environment in school
- In case there is a delay in picking up the child from the school due to some unavoidable reason, the same should be intimated to the school reception at the earliest. Students under no circumstances will be allowed to leave the school premises unescorted.
- Visit to a friend's/relative's house from school is not permissible.
- Lunch box, water bottle and other necessary art/craft items etc. must be sent along with the child. Any packet sent to school later will not be accepted for security reasons.
- Permission to take back the ward/any other student while visiting the school should not be sought. In case of absolute necessity, a written application (to be sent at the reception/ through an email) must be forwarded. Permission to leave early is subject to approval by the Principal.
- Avoid sending any unnecessary cash to school. Parents of classes Nur-V should not send any cash to school through the child.
- In case the ward needs to be picked by the parent in the afternoon (in place of regular bus/taxi) a written permission must be sought in advance.
- Applications for request of early dispersal during examinations should be submitted to the Class Teacher upon arrival in school. In case of students whose parents have not sent an application, the parent/ driver who comes to collect the child should follow the regular procedure i.e, fill the Gate Pass at the reception
- Children travelling on their own or through taxis will not be allowed to enter the school building before 7:15 am in main school and before 7:30 am in infant school.
- Parents / Guardians must produce the parents' I-card at the School Gate to collect their ward, failing which the student will be made to wait in the school till the I-card is produced.
- Only Senior School children are allowed to visit the Canteen during the break and at dispersal time.
- If the seal of the packed item available in the school canteen is damaged or broken, it should not be bought and the matter must be reported immediately to the School authorities .The date of expiry for packed items must be checked before the purchase
- Senior School students are not allowed to use Junior Wing washrooms and vice versa.
- In case of ‘self mode dispersal’ Parent/ Guardian of Junior School students (II-V) should report at the Main Gate at 1:50 pm to collect their wards.
- During taxi dispersal, students are expected to stand in neat queues in their designated areas and wait patiently to give their attendance.
- All Sports equipments are strictly prohibited inside the school building. All Sports coaching kits should be tagged in permanent ink and left in Sports Room.
- Use of abusive language is a threat to safety. it leads to fight amongst students which are completely avoidable. So refrain from getting into verbal or physical fights.
ADOPT A CALMER OUTLOOK FOR A SAFER ENVIRONMENT
- Negative reaction towards any other student/parent/staff of the school on receiving any sort of complaint should be avoided.
- All complaints/grievances must be brought to the notice of the Class Teacher/Co-ordinator/ Acting Headmistress/ Vice Principal/ Principal without any fear of retaliation.
