BE A SANTA ACTIVITY

“Santa Claus is anyone who loves another and seeks to make them happy.” – Edwin Osgood Grover
The "Be a Santa" activity was organized at the Infant Sunshine Wing of DPS-Rohini on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, to celebrate Christmas with students from Nursery to Class II. This heartwarming event promoted the spirit of giving, kindness, and joy. The day began with Christmas stories about Santa Claus and the joy of giving, alongside discussions on eco-friendly gift wrapping. A highlight was the "Secret Santa" activity, where children exchanged small gifts wrapped in sustainable materials like recycled paper or cloth. The event fostered fun, learning, and the values of kindness and sharing.

SPACE EXPLORERS’ SESSION – DISCOVERING THE SKIES

The students of Class I and II of Infant Sunshine Wing of Delhi Public School, Rohini attended an Astronomy Club Session – ‘Discovering the Skies’ on Monday, 9 December 2024. The session focussed on introducing the concepts of the Earth’s atmosphere and the boundary into space. Students learned about the atmosphere as part of Earth and its role in demarcating the beginning of space. They were introduced to various space-related objects, such as hot air balloons, the International Space Station, and the Hubble Space Telescope, and were taught to distinguish between rockets (vehicles) and astronauts (human space travelers). Interactive activities included group exercises where students placed cutouts of objects onto a large floor map, categorizing them into Earth, atmosphere, and space. In another task, they sorted objects into three categories: Man-made, Heavenly Body, and Natural. Each participant received a handout and a puzzle as part of a takeaway kit. The session provided an engaging and educational experience, sparking curiosity about space among the young learners.

‘Let me Breathe!’ - ENVIRONMENT ACTIVITY

“Every breath matters, stop air pollution”.
The students of Infant School of Delhi Public School- Rohini, Nursery-II, were enthralled to participate in ‘Let me Breathe!’ environment activities . Various activities like videos on oxygen as an essential resource and air pollution and its effects, reduce- reuse and recycle were shown to the children. A hands-on experiment using petroleum jelly was conducted to measure pollution levels inside and outside the classroom, helping the children understand the impact of pollution. The children actively engaged in all activities with great zeal, learning the importance of caring for the environment. The session was both educational and enjoyable, inspiring the students to adopt environmentally friendly practices.

SPICES THAT KEEP US WARM IN WINTERS - ACADEMIC ACTIVITY

Students of the Infant Sunshine Wing at Delhi Public School, Rohini, participated in the 'Spices That Keep Us Warm in Winters' activity on Monday, 28th October 2024. The event explored how certain spices, like ginger, cinnamon, cloves, turmeric, and black pepper, help keep us warm and healthy during winter. The children smelled and touched the spices while learning about their benefits. A 'Smell and Guess' game was also played, where the children closed their eyes and guessed the spices by scent. The activity was enjoyed by all, with enthusiastic participation, fostering a deeper understanding of spices and their aromas.

The students of Class II participated enthusiastically in 'My Favourite Iconic Character'—an intra-section character enactment competition held on Friday, 25th October 2024. Students embraced their creativity, stepping into the shoes of iconic characters like Bhuro, Juno, Karadi, Sanjaya, Kaali, Nirali, Snow White, and the ever-charming Pinocchio. 'WORLD WILDLIFE WEEK’-' ENVIRONMENT ACTIVITY

The students of Infant School of Delhi Public School- Rohini, Nursery-II, participated in ‘World Wildlife Week’. The children took part in a variety of fun and engaging tasks, such as creating animals with clay, freehand drawing of animals and an animal party where they enthusiastically enacted the sounds and movements of different animals. These activities were designed to raise awareness about the vital role animals play in our lives. Additionally, storytelling sessions focused on the importance of caring for animals. The children fully immersed themselves in the activities with great enthusiasm, learning valuable lessons about kindness and responsibility towards animals.

KAHANI BUNO - HINDI STORY NARRATION WITH PUPPETS (CLASS I)

The students of Class I participated enthusiastically in in ‘Kahani Buno’– an intra section competition on Hindi story narration using hand puppets on Friday, 18 October 2024. The students got the opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent, bringing stories from the evergreen ‘Panchatantra’ to life with their handmade puppets. The competition was successful in instilling a spirit of storytelling, confidence, and creativity among the children.

SAVE ENERGY ACADEMIC ACTIVITY

The students of the Infant Sunshine Wing at Delhi Public School, Rohini, participated in save energy academic activity on Friday, 27 September 2024.The event included engaging and interactive sessions aimed at highlighting the significance of saving energy in daily life. Students were informed about how small actions, such as turning off lights, using energy- efficient appliances, and opting for renewable energy sources, can collectively make a substantial impact. Following the informational sessions, students were invited to create posters that illustrated their ideas on energy conservation. This poster-making activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from all students, fostering both artistic skills and a deeper understanding of the importance of saving energy. The initiative not only enhanced their creative abilities but also encouraged early environmental awareness, helping them comprehend basic actions that contribute to energy conservation.

SPACE EXPLORERS SESSION – OUR STAR: THE SUN

The students of Classes I and II of Infant Sunshine Wing of Delhi Public School, Rohini attended the second Space Exploration Workshop on Monday, 23 September 2024. This workshop focused on facts related to celestial bodies and was a resounding success, providing fundamental knowledge about astronomy. The session commenced with an introduction to the Sun, stars, and the Moon. An engaging story was narrated and presented on screen for the children. The interactive segment explained that stars are enormous glowing balls of gas, identified the Sun as the largest star, and described the Moon as Earth’s only natural satellite. The young explorers were also made aware of facts related to the Milky Way Galaxy, the size of the Sun in comparison to other planets in the solar system, and participated in a related activity. A key highlight of the workshop was the observation of the Sun through "Surya - Premium Eclipse Viewing Goggles," which are a safe method for solar observation. Each student received a pair of solar viewing goggles along with a handout as part of their takeaway kit.

RAINWATER HARVESTING ACTIVITIES

The students of the Infant Sunshine Wing of Delhi Public School, Rohini participated in an educational session on rainwater harvesting, where they learned that it involves the collection and storage of rainwater, which is redirected to the ground to replenish groundwater levels. The session highlighted the benefits of this practice, including reduced water demand and the promotion of water and energy conservation. To reinforce the concept, a hands-on activity was conducted, where rainwater was collected in inverted umbrellas strategically placed around the school. This practical demonstration allowed students to observe how rainwater can be effectively captured and stored. The students further discussed the potential uses of the collected water and the importance of conservation, deepening their understanding of environmental sustainability.

SPACE EXPLORERS SESSION – LIFT OFF!

The students of Classes I and II of Infant Sunshine Wing of Delhi Public School, Rohini attended the first Space Exploration Workshop on Wednesday, 14 August 2024. This workshop aimed to introduce students to the concept of rockets as vehicles for space travel and to explain their operational principles. The session included a demonstration of a balloon rocket and car activity to illustrate these principles in an engaging manner. Students actively participated in launching their own pop rockets, experiencing firsthand the excitement of seeing them soar into the air. To further enhance their learning experience, each child was provided with a kit to conduct the experiment at home, allowing them to explore the concepts independently. A pamphlet containing various activities was distributed to encourage further exploration and enjoyment of the subject matter. The workshop successfully engaged and involved the children, providing them with an enriching experience as budding astronomers. The hands-on approach not only fostered curiosity but also reinforced foundational knowledge of rocket science and physics. Overall, the event was a valuable addition to the students' educational journey.

The students of Infant, Sunshine Wing of Delhi Public School-Rohini, Nursery-Class II, were enthralled to participate in the ‘Colours Create Magic’ activity on Tuesday, 30 July 2024. The tiny tots engaged themselves in mixing colours to discover how colours when mixed, got magically transformed into new ones. Teaching children about color mixing not only enhances their artistic skills but also supports their cognitive development and understanding of the world around them. It was a fun-filled and engaging activity for the young learners.

MY CANVAS: COLOURING COMPETITION

The little artists of class Prep participated in MY CANVAS colouring held on 25 July 2024. The children of class Prep brought colour to their masterpieces with their creativity. The students coloured beautifully in the picture given to them and exhibited their skills. It helped them in exploring new ideas, creativity as well as a sense of colours. MY CANVAS – DRAWING COMPETITION (CLASS I)

Children of class I enthusiastically participated in ‘My Canvas’ - an intra-section Drawing Competition, showcasing their artistic talents through a myriad of drawings. Guided by their imagination and creativity, each child brought forth their interpretations of sea life and the rainy season. STORYTELLING SESSION WITH MS MAMTA NAINY

The students of Class II of DPS Rohini Infant, Sunshine Wing attended a Storytelling session by Ms. Mamta Nainy, the author of the book ‘ Sadiq Wants to Stitch’ on 26 April 2024. In honour of World Book and Copyright Day, it was a part of our continued effort to promote literacy. Ms. Nainy’s storytelling with awe-inspiring dramatization, myriad expressions and excellent voice modulation captivated and mesmerized the young audience. The fun-filled, engaging and interactive session helped to foster a love for reading among the students.

INFANT SUNSHINE WING - ANNUAL DAY - ‘Ekjut@30 Tiny Tales’

Delhi Public School, Rohini, Infant Sunshine Wing organised its Annual Day, ‘Ekjut@30 Tiny Tales’ on 9 March 2024 under the dynamic guidance of the Principal, Ms. Kanika Sachdeva Govi. It was a vibrant and memorable event, filled with joy, laughter and a showcase of talent by the little enthusiasts of Nursery to Class II.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri Himanshu Gupta, IAS Secretary, CBSE. Mrs. Namita Pradhan, Chairperson, Managing Committee, Delhi Public School Rohini was the Guest of Honour and the Special Guest was Shri P.K. Tripathi, Member, Managing Committee DPS Rohini.
Principal Mrs. Kanika Sachdeva Govi, in her address, expressed gratitude to all present and informed the gathering about the tiny tales based on the theme of the four pillars of education and the school's ethos of Gratitude, Care for environment, Mental Wellness and Inclusivity. She also highlighted the importance of inculcating the habit of reading amongst the children from the early age in order to give them positive mindset.
The Choir – ‘One for All, All for One’ captivated the audience with its foot tapping music and heartfelt, melodious presentation.
Guest of Honour, Mrs. Namita Pradhan, in her inspiring address, expressed her happiness to see the ever-smiling faces of the little ones, performing with no pretense. She further said that with such wonderful children of DPS Rohini, our country has a bright future.
The Annual Report titled – ‘Reflections 2023’ provided a cohesive framework for the various activities and the laurels achieved by the students, recognizing their hard work and dedication in various fields of study in the session 2022-2023.
The release of the Annual Day brochure – 'The Leaflet’, provided an insight into the careful preparations, intricate choreography and detailed orchestration that brought the event to life.
The Special Guest Shri P.K. Tripathi shared his insight and experiences, and enlightened the audience with his words of wisdom. He praised the unity in diversity that he observed in the symphony of the choir. He was also overwhelmed to see the confidence level of the tiny tots and congratulated the principal for focusing on the all-round development of the personality taking place in DPS Rohini.
The grand spectacle of the ‘Ekjut@30 Tiny Tales’ staged by over 600 hardworking students of Classes Nursery – II, dazzled the audience with the fantastic tales of love, kindness, happiness and hopefulness and vibrant dances.
The Chief Guest, Shri Himanshu Gupta in his address appreciated the remarkable efforts of the Principal Mrs. Kanika Sachdeva Govi, the school staff and students. He emphasized that its crucial to dedicate quality time to children at the early age and no amount of screen time can replace the genuine love of siblings and family. He further said the country looks up to the youth to build its future and the teachers play an important role in shaping the society and the mankind.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem in Sign Language, embodying our school’s ethos of inclusivity and unity.
The Annual Day celebration was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present. It was a testament to the spirit of unity, creativity, and joy that defines our school community. We look forward to many more such celebrations in the future, nurturing and empowering the young minds of tomorrow.

CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA - ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The students of Infant Sunshine Wing Delhi Public School, Rohini, Nursery to Class II, were enthralled to participate in the “Cultural Extravaganza” activity on Friday, 9 February. They depicted various cultures, cuisines and languages of four major Zones of India. The tiny tots dressed up in costumes and exhibited the cuisine and culture of various states in tableau form. They performed traditional greetings, fostering pride and respect for India's heritage. The event promoted unity amidst diversity, nurturing cultural understanding among young minds. It was an enlightening and enriching experience for the children of Infant Wing.

‘CLEAR MINDS- CLEAN AIR’ - ENVIRONMENT ACTIVITY

The students of Infant School of Delhi Public School- Rohini, Nursery-II, were enthralled to participate in ‘Clear Minds- Clean Air ’ environment activities from November 2023 to January 2024. Various activities like videos on oxygen as an essential resource and air pollution and its effects were shown to the children. Demonstration of petroleum jelly - air pollution experiment was done in the class to create awareness about the hazards of pollution. Children enjoyed the activities and participated in them with full zeal and zest. They learnt to take care of the environment.

The students of Class II participated in ‘Hasya Kavita’ – an intra- section Funny Hindi poem recitation competition on Friday, 19 January 2024. The young ones recited rib-tickling humorous poems with enthusiasm and energy sending the audience into bouts of laughter. The competition aimed at showcasing their ability to present the theme creatively. 7th EDITION OF INTERNATIONAL GETLITT! READING OLYMPIAD 2023-24

International GetLitt! Reading Olympiad was held in the online mode from 15-20 January 2024. It provided the students an opportunity to engage in reading a wide variety of age-appropriate books picked up from the best of Indian & International literature for children. Students from Classes II-VIII engaged in meaningful reading and explored different themes. This finally culminated in the Olympiad examination which contained multiple choice questions on vocabulary, comprehension and fun trivia related to the books.
